Tournament Rules and Regulations

1.       This is an OMHA sanctioned tournament.  All OMHA rules and regulations will apply to tournament games.

2.       Registration will open one hour before the first scheduled game.  Teams are required to provide a paper copy submission of the team's roster and all other required documentation (i.e. travel permit) when they register at their first game. You may have emailed this information but teams are required to bring paper copies with them for registration.

3.       All teams must be ready to play fifteen (15) minutes before their scheduled game time.  There will be a three (3) minute warm-up prior to each game.

4.       Team officials must complete the electronic game sheet no later than 15 minutes prior to game time.

5.       Each of the four round robin games in Atom will be 10-10-10 stop time.

6.       The Final game will be 10-10-10 stop time.  A further five (5) minute, 4 on 4 SUDDEN VICTORY overtime period will be played in case of a tie.  If still tied after the overtime period, each team will select three players for a shoot-out. The three players will be identified by the Coach after the 5 minute overtime is complete. If still tied after the three-player shoot-out, there will be a single shot sudden victory shootout.  No player may shoot a second time until all players have taken a shot.

7.       In all games, if during the third period a team is up by 5 or more goals then it will be "straight time" until such time as the gap is reduced to 3 goals, and then it will revert to stop time.

8.       There are NO timeouts allowed in the round robin games in Atom.  Each team will be permitted one 30 second timeout in the Final game.

9.       Seeding Teams: Two (2) points for a win, one (1) for a tie and zero (0) for a loss.

10.   TIEBREAKERS (for seeding teams after round robin play in Atom).

a.       Total points

b.       Head to head**

c.       Goal percentage – is determined by adding the total goals for to the total goals against and dividing this total into total goals for. The higher percentage, winning the higher position. For example, if two teams are tied in points and tied in their game against one another then team A below would finish higher than Team B below as their goal percentage is higher.

Team A

30 goals for + 16 goals against = 46

Then divide 46 into total goals for (30) - gives a goal percentage of .652

Team B

15 goals for + 14 goals against = 29

Then divide 29 into total goals for (15) – gives a goal percentage of .517

If still tied after goal percentage then the higher seed will be determined by the following (in the order provided):

d.       Least goals against

e.       Least total penalty minutes in round robin games

f.        Fastest opening goal scored during round robin games

g.       Coin toss

** Please note that Head to Head is primarily used if there are two teams tied, in the case of a three way tie, head to head will only apply if one team has beaten the other two teams. Head to head is not an eligible tie breaker in the unlikely event of 4 or more teams being tied.

11.   Home Team for Finals: Of the two teams to play in the Finals, the team seeded in First will be the home team for the Finals.

12.   SUSPENSIONS

a.       Game misconducts and Misconducts - as per the OMHA Manual of Operations

b.       Gross Misconducts, Match Penalties & Fighting Majors - Suspension for the remainder of the tournament
