West Niagara Doug Robinson Tournament Rules

1.       This is an OMHA sanctioned tournament.  All OMHA rules and regulations will apply to tournament games.

2.       Registration will open one hour before the first scheduled game.  Teams will not be permitted on the ice for their first game without the submission of the team's roster, travel permit, Fees paid and all other required documentation.

3.    Body checking is permitted in Minor Bantam and older divisions.

4.       All teams must be ready to play fifteen (15) minutes before their scheduled game time.  There will be a two (2) minute warm-up prior to each game.

5.       Team officials must complete the Electronic game sheet no later than 30 minutes prior to game time.

6.       All round robin games will be 10-10-15 stop time. 

7.       All "elimination" games will be 10-10-15 stop time. 

a.       If Tied a Five (5) minute 3 on 3 SUDDEN VICTORY period will be played

b.       If still tied a three player shoot-out (each team will provide the name of their three players for this shoot-out on the game sheet prior to the game).

c.        If still tied after the initial three players, there will be a single shot sudden victory shootout.  No player may shoot a second time until all players have taken a shot.

8.       In all games if during the third period a team is up by 5 or more goals then it will be "runtime" until such time as the gap is reduced to 3 goals, and then it will revert to stop time.

9.       There are NO timeouts allowed in round robin play.  Each team will be permitted one 30 second timeout in each elimination game.

10.   Seeding Teams:

a.       2 points for a win,

b.       1 point for a tie

c.       0 points for a loss.

11.   TIEBREAKERS (for seeding teams after round robin play)

a.       Head to Head result**

b.       Goal percentage – is determined by adding the total goals for to the total goals against and dividing this total into total goals for. The higher percentage, winning the higher position.

Example

30 goals for + 16 goals against = 46 

Then divide 46 into total goals for (30) - gives a goal percentage of .652

 

If still tied after Above then the higher seed will be determined by the following (in the order provided):

c.       Least goals against

d.       Least total penalty minutes in round robin games

e.       Fastest opening goal scored during round robin games

f.        Coin toss

** Please note that Head to Head, in the case of a three way tie, will only apply if one team has beaten the other two teams.

12.   SUSPENSIONS

a.       Game misconducts and Misconducts - as per the OMHA Manual of Operations

b.       Gross Misconducts, Match Penalties & Fighting Majors - Suspension for the remainder of the tournament

c.    It is the responsibility of the team official to find out if any suspensions occurred in their games. Tournament suspensions are recorded and submitted to the OMHA daily and will be served during tournament play. Check with local associations for rules governing carryovers.

13. Floods

Ice will be flooded after each game.

14. Jerseys

All teams will require “home & away” sweaters, (base color light & dark)

The "home" team shall wear their light sweaters.

15. By entering this tournament the coach or manager on behalf of their teams releases the West Niagara Minor Hockey, tournament committee and all officials, referees, sponsors, volunteers, arena management and all concerned with the tournament from any and all liability of injury or accident which may be incurred by any player or team official while participating in or coming to or going from the tournament.

 

16. The decision of the referees is final, no appeals will be heard. The tournament committee reserves the right to make changes at any time due to unforeseen circumstances. All decisions of the tournament committee are final.
