COVID-19 VACCINE POLICY ANNOUNCED
Submitted By Jim Borsodi on Sunday, September 12, 2021
Hello Members of West Niagara Minor Hockey

This message is to provide everyone with the most up to date information we have in regard to the new COVID-19 policies and requirements for this season.

Please note: We are providing this information in the effort to keep everyone informed. West Niagara Minor Hockey was not in consultation to form the policies, nor do we have the ability to change any of the policies and Rules provided.

Two press announcements were released last week that affect our hockey season and programing:

First:

OMHA COVID-19 VACCINE POLICY ANNOUNCED

This policy applies to the following Affected Persons, which includes the following persons:

(i.e including the 14-day period after receiving their completed dose)

by October 31, 2021 or earlier.

All Affected Persons must present to their Association designate, as applicable, evidence satisfactory to the OMHA demonstrating that they have received the completed series of an Accepted COVID-19 Vaccine.

As of September 22, 2021, Ontarians will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID to access certain public settings and facilities

The applicable place for our association are:

In summary, based on the two Policies listed above and guidance provided by Our Governing Bodies, West Niagara Minor Hockey will be asking for the following:

All players born in 2009 or earlier must provide documentation to show they have started the vaccination process as of September 17, 2021.

Documentation will be validated by the Association prior to the commencement of player evaluations (tryouts) and team selections. This pertains to both Rep and Local League players. Player are not eligible to participate in evaluations until documentation has been provided and verified.

Acceptable documents serving as evidence of COVID-19 vaccination include:

  • A copy of Vaccine Appointment booking in September.
  • A digital or physical Dose Administration Receipt.
  • Medical records signed by a licensed health care provider indicating vaccine name and date(s) of administration

All Team officials, Game Officials, Association Officials and Volunteers must provide documentation to show they fully Vaccinated by September 22, 2021

Acceptable documents serving as evidence of COVID-19 vaccination include:

  • A digital or physical Dose Administration Receipt.
  • Medical records signed by a licensed health care provider indicating vaccine name and date(s) of administration

All Parents and Spectators will be required as of September 22, 2021 to show proof of full Vaccination to municipal staff to gain entry to the facilities.

Please Note:

Even if you have started the vaccination process as of September 22nd you may not be able to access the facilities until you have completed the Vaccination process (14 days after second dose). The Ontario Government has not provided final details to the Municipalities on what the minor sports exemption means and its details.

Best case is they allow players to continue if they have started the process, worst case you must wait until completed full vaccination.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter,  WNMHA Board
